Quiet and Calm

It’s been weeks since I’ve last been here.  I’ve been busy with holiday activities and everyday life…and the days have flown by.  And now that things have tapered off, I am ready to get going again…slowly and calmly.  I hope that you’ve entered the New Year with a peaceful mindset as well.

January is usually a very quiet time for me, and I like this unhurried pace very much.  Tranquility really suits me and is something that I try to hang on to throughout the year. It’s not always easy, but I like to try.  Sometimes this desire comes through in my artwork, as you can see in my article (“With One Palette”) in the current issue of Somerset Studio (Jan./Feb. issue).

Here’s a look at my quiet creations.  These were all inspired by my Bill.

The whispers of a single feather…I am in awe of this delicate beauty from nature.

And faithful love…

…how it shines…

…quietly, yet powerfully.

Wishing you a glowing year of light and love.  And may this love bring you peace and calm.

  2. I am new to your site, but have enjoyed your work in the magazines. I love how you use nature in your work. I live in the country and am always on the lookout for feathers and other items left behind. I haven’t made any art with them, just keep these things on display.

  3. Hi Cindy. I like to keep nature things on display also…they’re so beautiful on their own. And then when the feeling strikes, I like that they’re readily available to use in my artwork. Having inspirational items in my immediate space seems to spark my creativity. I bet many of us feel the same way.

What a lovely post, Becky. It felt like a hush came over me as I gently scrolled through the most-beautiful pieces you created. Oogling along the way. I adore the feathers you used. I love birds and marvel at their beauty, created feather by feather.
Sending wishes of peace, gentleness and serenity to glide you through January (and the rest of the year).
    Hugs,
    Jeanette

  5. I do love feathers and this post gently arrives with a fresh calmness. I make a wish when I find a feather. It feels like a gift, like a beautiful, graceful message. I love the messages, in your art and the bonds of love~

Becky, you already know how I love feathers. Over this last year, I got very introspective about my work, and decided I really like a much simpler palate. I’m always drawn to whites, creams, all variations on white. Maybe I am entering a more quiet time in my life (at last? ha ha!). Your work always speaks to me, and I study your things over and over….thank you for giving me so much ‘food for thought’. And I daily am grateful for all the help a computer has brought to my door!

What beautiful, soothing art Becky, all made with love. Your Bill must be so proud of you in addition to loving you very much. I was fortunate to get a complimentary issue and was thrilled to see more of your beautiful art. Funny, as much as I LOVE your calm and soothing approach, it’s something I have a hard time creating myself as I’m all about vibrant color! So hard for me to pull back 🙂 I can meditate and be calm but if I go to my room to art immediately after-I still load up the color. I guess that’s always been my style :). Happy New Year!

Thank you dear, Becky, for sharing your peaceful self. I always feel a wonderful moving peace when I see your name in my inbox…a little thrill of excitement to see what you are sharing. And I enjoy reading through all the comments from others…it’s all such a lovely reminder of how amazing our world is. Here is to another year full of peace, hope, faith and a powerful trust in all of it to shine.

  14. You’re so right Tina…I also very much enjoy reading through the comments. It makes me feel like we’re all so similar…and different at times too. And yet we’re all in it together, and together is good.

  16. It’s my favourite too, calm and quiet and full of reflection and pause. I am a person in need of transition and can’t go from one thing to the next without some kind of pause so my brain can leave where I was and then look to where I’m going….
I love your peaceful art Becky. It’s just the thing for these kind of days.
