In my parts the color green has been slowly popping up in patches here and there. And soon this quiet and humble beginning will set ablaze, shooting all kinds of color everywhere! Until then, I wait and green things up myself…
…like this little house with a subtle sweep of green.
I couldn’t resist plopping a tiny, speckled egg at the bottom. To me, Spring and eggs go together like cake and frosting.
Here’s a little house that I made using a piece of Peat pot as the substrate. I’m not a gardener, yet I love the texture and natural feel of this material so of course I had to find a way to use it. Plus, it’s “green.”
And here’s a lucky green clover which relates to this week’s holiday, St. Patrick’s Day.
This clover is actually a scrapbook flower (comes in green and is also pre-glittered right out of the package.) All I did was add a simple, small bead embellishment with a wire stem and then placed it into a vintage spool.
Here’s the same clover in a different spool…I can’t decide if I like it best in the tall, shimmery spool or the squat, altered one.
Creating this “lucky clover” gave me an opportunity to look into the origins of this green gift from nature. And I found out that each leaf represents something – The 1st is HOPE, the 2nd is FAITH, the 3rd is LOVE and the 4th is LUCK. Whenever I discover the deeper meaning behind old traditions my appreciation grows…getting to the root of things is ever-inspiring.
Happy hopeful, faithful, loving, lucky everything!

Becky, flowers and birds…we need those right now, don’t we, here in the northeast! Outside my window….flurries….again! lol! But 3″ sprouts of daffodils against the house where it’s warmer! The birds have begun singing, a robin seen yesterday! And your little green flower does look like a shamrock! Perfect for this Thursday’s celebrations! Sweet and simple little creations…loving the peat pot substrate. I made a flower yesterday with my Cuttlebug out of handmade paper I purchased ages ago and now want to find more to play with! Love the way it turned out.
Keep warm until real spring gets here!

Ok so you are starting to inspire me, where do you find your items?
March 16th, 2011
Denise, I get my items from all over. The silver container (with egg) is the outside of an antique blue bottle salt shaker purchased from a flea market. The glittered flower is from a craft store. The tall spool is from Tinsel Trading in NYC and the squat spool is from a garage sale. Keep your eyes open wherever you go!

Fun to see your signs of spring. I like the tall vessel for the shamrock, as iit is stretching and reaching for the sunlight! I love peat pots and all they inspire~
Thanks for sharing your signs of spring’s hope; I am beginning to see it’s graceful arrival. Our cherry trees are releasing confetti cheer~
Fun post~
