A Note to Self: Drink in the Joy

A note to self:  Come up for air and drink in the joy.  Life happens in the now…be in it, and enjoy.

The photo above was taken while I was in Chiang Mai (in my Mother’s yard).   Now, a month later, I woke up this morning unexpectedly thinking of this photo.  And thinking of how this little fishy seemed to be taking a breather…and thinking what a good idea this is for me to remember to do the same.

How about you, have you seen anything lately that’s got you thinking?  And have you written any notes to self?

I so needed this reminder. School started back up and I’m in full teacher mode, working long hours, trying to find my rhythm, keep up the house, and take care of my family. Yesterday was the first time I had picked up a brush or pen to just create for fun. My note to self is: don’t let my job consume my life and energy.

Emily, I’m glad to hear that my post served as a good reminder. And I’m even more glad to hear that you found some time to create again! Also, I like your note to self…thanks for sharing it.

  3. Becky,

I’m so fortunate that my dear Tom keeps me grounded and gently nudges me out of my creative space to join him by the water and enjoy the sunsets, or watch a flock of geese fly over.

I love the symbolism of that wee gold fish. I can’t wait to see how you use this message in your wonderful art.

Enjoy the crisp air, the glorious Autumn sunsets and know that a kindred spirit is doing the same,

Lately, I’ve been looking around and thinking I’ll never ever live long enough to use up all my accumulated crafting ‘stuff’. So I’ve decided to begin trying to use more and buy less. I can get an idea just by picking up a random piece of paper, or a paper flower. Boing! Comes an idea. Or two. So now it is time to change into ‘using stuff up’ gear here. That is going to be my mantra now: use it up, use it up!

    Jani,
I love this idea…thanks for sharing it. I’ve also been trying to do the same (we’ll most likely be downsizing in a few years after Brook goes off to school). I think it’ll take at least 3 or 4 years to use up all the supplies that I have…I have a lot!

What a lovely picture-serene. Nature always makes me think. Keeps me grounded in the ‘now’ attitude. Just walked the dog, and the monarchs are on the move. So many more than last year, hopeful sign. Will go looking for the flock tomorrow. They usually take a breather before their trek across the lake (Erie). Have a beautiful week.

  8. I do seem to be more in the moment and living for the now as I get older. Life happens so fast and we are “on” 24/7 I feel grateful for being able to meander and observe and stop to smell the roses. “If not now…when?” That is my new mantra. Drink in the Joy Bliss Dear…
