Giveaway – Inspired by Blue

When we take time to pay close attention to the present moment, especially while out in nature, random thoughts begin to play together in concert.   This music brings insight and connects us to the earth and all of its surroundings…keeping us grounded.  The mind feels clear and soars with imagination.  I recently found myself in this open happy place, from which sprung this short, sweet verse.

Depths of Blue

Shades of blue bring thoughts of sky and sea
Vastness in between, beyond imagination.
Space filled with light and magic mist
Drops of rain, dollops of dew
All around, the beauty of blue.

I created this necklace with these thoughts in mind.   The blue stone that I chose for this piece is amazonite.  Some call this the “hope stone” and believe that it can help maintain balance and calm.   Although there is no real proof of this, I think that it’s good to believe.  Our minds are powerful beyond measure – if you think it, it can be.

If you would like to have this necklace please leave a comment on this post.   You have until Friday, April 16th at 5pm EST to leave a comment and I’ll choose a random winner by the next morning.   Thanks for stopping by and for participating in this “out of the blue” giveaway.

  3. Hi Becky,

Your poem reminds me of what my husband sees when he is out to sea! Lovely poem, by the way! When he returns from being on a steel gray ship; he loves green! Then he asked me “Do you know how many movies start on the water, over water, near water?” The crew watches a lot of movies while out on their 6 month tour.

I love blue, funny, in my family, their birthday stones are all blue. I have two aquamarines(March) and one sapphire(Sept). My Mom and brother are also sapphires. I’m am the only green(emerald-May).
My favorite colors are a blend of blue n’ green, turquoise, but I also love brown.

I love the symbolism of stones, gems and flowers. Some how they
give us a sense of self or what we desire.

The necklace is gorgeous; I would love to be added in the drawing for the give-a-way!

I think the best ideas come to us, out of the blue. Odd, though when you think of the term blue, meaning soul in music, depression, a blue note, sign of hope, blue bird, the blue hour, the blue ribbon and the rare blue moon. Blue covers a large spectrum of emotion. As I let my dreams soar out into the blue and beyond, I could sure use some calmness and balance!

  4. Ellen I’m curious – what does the blue hour relate to?

    April 12th, 2010

  5. Becky,
The blue hour comes from a French expression, l’heure bleue, which refers to the period of twilight each morning and evening where there is neither full daylight nor complete darkness. The time is considered special because of the quality of the light at this time of day. The blue hour is considered especially flattering for people with blond hair in photography and is often also when the smell of the flowers is at its strongest during the summertime.(wikipedia) I love what it evokes…
    especially the flowers~

  6. Hi Becky!
Sorry to have been absent for a while. My husbands been off for two weeks on vacation and I’m so behind with my blog reading.
What a lovely post and you’re so sweet and generous to share your beautiful jewelry with us. I’ve never heard of amazonite before, so pretty and I love the sentiment and back story very much. (I used a bird theme and “fly” for my oldest nieces graduation book I made her … now I’ve got to come up with a unique word to use for her younger sister’s graduation present. YIKES! I’m at a loss.)
Please toss my name into your hat too.
    Happy week to you!
    Sally
P.S. I nearly forgot … I’m having a little giveaway myself … I bought two issues of the same Stampington magazine and am giving one away. I’m guessing you most likely already have it but please come over and take a looksee.
