10 inches lighter

I’ve been craving some change lately so last week I went for a haircut, hoping to get a new “do” with a little more polish or pizzaz.  Although I had this goal in mind, I didn’t intend to go short, exactly.   However, when I first arrived at the salon and found out that I had enough ponytail length to donate to Locks of Love,  I couldn’t pass up on this opportunity just because I didn’t want to lose a couple of extra inches.   It wasn’t very easy letting go of 10 inches of hair, which by the way took me three years to grow, but my nervousness was eased when I thought about how much more this hair would mean to someone else.   Since I was looking for a change anyway, deciding to cut it all off wasn’t purely motivated by unselfish thoughts.  I think that very often, when we do something that benefits others we are in turn doing something for ourselves (it feels great  knowing that we’ve made a positive difference.)

With shorter hair I feel lighter and more energetic.  Plus, this new style is easier to maintain and I’m saving money too by not having to buy expensive hair conditioners.  If you’ve been thinking about going lighter and would like to donate your hair, please visit Locks of Love (requires 10 inches) or Pantene (requires 8 inches).

BTW, last weekend while at the beach I unexpectedly felt the breeze blowing on the back of my neck again.   Ah…the simple pleasures…they are free, yet priceless!

  1. You look great; I love it! Funny, I am going to ask my daughter who wants to be a Cosmetologist, to help me find a photo. I am going to go get my hair cut tomorrow. I am no Samson, but I also feel a shift when I change it up, a new start type of thing. It is getting so hot n’ humid, where I live. I need a summer do! I am meeting a friend for coffee, need to shop and thought I would squeeze it in. My family suggested bangs…not sure about that. I love that you donated to Locks of Love. My daughter did that last time, she went and had a bob.
I think it does make you feel lighter and gives you a bounce in your step!
    Enjoy that breeze~

  2. hi becky. it turned out very very nice. it’s weird. i just returned from getting a haircut myself. not 10 inches, but it sure does save time in the morning from having to blow dry longer hair. have a wonderful day my dear online friend.

  3. Except on very special occasions I’ve been skipping the blow-drying step for years. Wash and go works best for me (this way I get to use the extra time in my studio.)

Your new do looks great! Some of us would “kill” to have your hair! I’m afraid I can’t get away with the wash and let dry method. My hair is so fine I must put lots of product in it and blow dry it for body. But I’m not complaining – it’s short so it doesn’t take long to do. That was a nice thing you did donating your locks. Someone will be so happy…….

  6. Well, it looks great! It’s funny….I think my hair is really LONG compared to usual and I think it might be about the same length as your new cut! LOL! I had mine short and spiky for a long time and decided to grow it out. BOY IS THAT A PAIN! And what’s worse? I know me. I will chop it all off again, in time! HA!
