Over the summer I met up with Susan for some coffee and conversation. This was our first get together and it was fabulous. It was fabulous because Susan is fabulous. She’s full of light and good energy…everything about her is dazzling.
After meeting up with Susan I strolled over to The Beadin Path (a great place in Freeport, Maine, to buy jewelry supplies.) As I shopped, I noticed that shades of purple kept popping up into view…making me wonder if this was brought on by lingering thoughts of Susan. Perhaps being around her passionate vibe was guiding me towards these dreamy gems.
Here’s something that I created with Susan in mind. Her energy is deep yet delicate and totally inspiring.
Playing around with purple is new for me and I was surprised to discover how much I enjoyed it…so much so that I created another necklace, which I’m offering as a giveaway. BTW, I think that purple will be big in the Fall, and I’ve been looking for the perfect shade of grape-colored lip gloss to wear with my sweaters and boots (can you believe it’s almost time to dig them out?)
If you’d like to win the necklace below please leave a comment to this post by next Sunday, September 5th at 5:00 pm. I’d love to hear what makes you feel passionate or inspired. Whatever it is, I hope that you reach for it often.

I find inspiration everywhere, magazines, TV, billboards, but mostly from blogging. I love that we live in a world where we can share ideas and encourage each other to believe in being creative and to BE creative. I love to see people enjoy their creative passion no matter what it is and I love that they love to share it. Thanks bloggers you make my world a little bit happier every day.
love me 🙂

I find color combinations in every day life that inspire me. I also love checking into my google reader to catch up on the latest posts from my favorite bloggers. Being able to blog about what I love and reach out to others in the creative-blogging community makes me feel connected. And i love all things purple!

How wonderful, you two were able to meet! You both share a passion for creating and coffee, must of been a soulful exchange! Purple is such a great color for fall, as the trees change their mood. This shade seems to play off and accent their palette. Purple reflects transformation and being creative. I think we transform, when Fall arrives. A different pace, time to reflect and create!
What a beautiful necklace~
What inspires me? Nature, magazines, movies, people, blogs, photography, gardening, hiking, walking, chocolate and coffee! And much more! Nature, reading and walking are probably my top 3 right now~

Becky, I have found your lovely blog via Susan’s…she is my fave photo teacher and luvluvluv her shining light, too! May I join in for the giveaway (I adore purple)….
I find inspiration in sooooo many places/thoughts/wanderings but I would have to say that primarily I’m most deeply inspired by the natural world…the turnings of the seasons, how creatures go about their ways, how scent and light and leafage can change my outlook in a millisecond…
Thank you, Becky!

Hello Becky,
So fun that you were able to meet up with a fellow artist. I met up with a fellow blogger earlier this summer and a couple of lovely bloggers in London on my vacation. It’s so awesome to make those connections.
Lately I’ve been feeling passionate about getting organized and getting ready for school to start. I actually cleaned out my junk drawer. 🙂 I’ve also been inspired by old houses lately. I think I’ll take a walk today and take some photos of historic homes in my area.

Hi Becky, what a lovely piece of jewelry you’ve made! I would be thrilled to have an opportunity to wear this.
What inspires me? Sitting down at my piano, alone, with a glass of wine, and playing Chopin.

i am inspired by people i love dearly. i dug deep inside to think about “things” that mean something to me and that i love. i am making a list of how something specific i am thinking about makes me feel and inspires me.

Two of my favorite people.

Inspiration, hmmmm. Mail catalogs always give me color combos. Magazine advertising offer up design ideas. Nature, fine art, and music always rev up the senses. Sometimes I’m inspired by an event or emotion. I’m primarily a scrapbooker, when I see a fun, new technique demonstration, I get excited to try it out, especially those using inks, mists, paint and other like mediums.
We are alike, in that, I also have a hard time using purple and all its hues. I love to wear purple. But I hardly ever create with it. Although I’ve been challenging myself to. I pull it out for Halloween.
Thanks for sharing, Becky.

I am passionate when I can connect with people that are passionate about the same things that I am…creating, beauty, meaning, overcoming…just for starters. I love the bracelet and necklace both, Becky. Just stunning!

I find inspiration in Nature, magazines, antique shops, my children, and my dreams. It is everywhere if I only look and am aware.
How exciting that you met up with Susan! I’m so glad!
Love the purple – I have noticed it in clothes and jewelry this year too!

Hi Becky,
Thank you. Having this beautiful necklace infused with not only Susan’s energy but yours, the artist’s energy would be a most cherished gift. Again thank you.
My inspiration comes most strongly from being out in Nature. It also comes from visiting blogs and seeing sooooo many beautiful posts from around the globe.

Oh, this is so amazingly beautiful! The purple is stunning! I am inspired by the emotions and feelings that come with daily living. It is striking sometimes the things that will pop a new creative idea into my head, but I am so grateful for my creative mind and all that comes with it!

Your work is amazing and in itself, inspiring. I am a nurse, though no longer working at the bedside, but rather working in an administrative position in the ED of my hospital. I find inspiration daily in viewing the interactions between patients and caregivers, chaplains and patients, and any combination of those entities. People treating people with positive, loving and helpful attitudes is always an inspiration to me! Thanks for the generous offering.

Cindu, thank you for sharing your experiences. I whole-heartedly agree that there’s a wealth of inspiration that comes from witnessing acts of kindness and compassion. And isn’t it interesting that the word, compassion contains “passion”?

Becky, The purple is so beautiful! It’s a lovely piece of jewelry.
There’s so much inspiration in the world today. But watching and following other artist really gets me revved up. The juices start flowing and then something wonderful and new happens. I love going to the downtown artisans market every sunday. There’s so much talent out there! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway

Becky, I first found your work in Somerset publications and was wowed from the beginning. I quickly looked up your blog and have been following your art since. I am inspired by the “something from nothing”-ness of a lot of your art. I particularly remember your telling us that dishwashing liquid bottles look like dress forms! And how they do! To me, your creativity and your sharing of your gifts is so inspirational. Thank you for this opportunity. Best regards, Gretchen

Beautiful story and beautiful jewelry, Becky! I am hopeful that one day we will be able to have a chance meeting. It’s so neat when you actually get to meet someone you have corresponded with and admired from afar. Art and artists studios often inspire me. God and nature, too.
Blessings,

So many things inspire me….color, beauty, people, nature, words, fresh & new things…I even get inspired by unique jewelry like you’ve designed here. Go, girl!
I love to connect in loving ways with people and find the treasure deep within each one. I consider myself as a “treasure hunter” that is always looking for treasure…the obvious as well as the hidden treasure…and treasure that is in people, things, nature, creativity. I love to draw out the “treasure” in each one.

Hi Becky,
I’ve found your blog through Jenny Doh’s blog. Thank you for commenting on her post about my art journaling project and the donations request. It’s such a pleasure to teach art journaling to the children – there’s such need and they have so much fun!
Since I’ve launched my blog my brain is on overdrive – inspiration is my constant companion! I’m passionate about art, about writing, about LIFE, and about travel. I keep my eyes open and really notice things, and use those bits and pieces/observations in my work. Artistically, I’m always inspired by nature.
I look forward to enjoying your coming posts. Thank you for sharing!

Hello, Becky! When I read this tonight I thought of my dear friend, Kelley, who is my “Susan.” She has definitely been the artist that has influenced me and inspired me most. She introduced me to paper arts a few years ago, then we began scouring thrift shops and antique stores for things to alter, you know how the story goes! It just keeps evolving and we keep challenging each other and sharing our passions. Ironically, we caught up for a little antique shopping and lunch today! We are both inspired by the same materials…found rusty objects and hardware, vintage paper, old crates and boxes, everything rustic…love it! I know she would love the necklace just as much as I do. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us.

Hello Becky,
I found your website through Susan. I have followed her website for quite a while. She is very talented. I love looking at how she views the world. She is one of my inspirations. The other is my cat. I calm down and slow down when I am petting him and see how he just enjoys the now. I love watching how he related to the world as he does his prowling around my garden.
Thank you so much for being so generous with giving away one of your amazing necklaces.

So stunning! I love how they say “reach.” That one word speaks volumes.

I love Susan’t work…and have really enjoyed working in the ECHO photo group with her…it is thru her blog that I found yours… and I’m so grateful!
I love your blog… and it was a quick add to my FAVS…
As to your question… most everything can be an inspiration… it just depends on your mood, etc…
Today I was inspired by the sights and sounds of yard sales happening in my town.Bright colors… a mix-mash of patterns… blending the old with the new… friendliness and cheer… it will all end up (hopefully) as inspiration for whatever art I happened to be working on today.
Please enter me in the drawing for your lovely necklace… I would be deeply honored.
Many thanks, elaine
