A Quick Getaway

This past weekend our little family went on a last minute, quick getaway to Newport, RI which is about a 1 1/2 hour drive from home.   Normally we head over to our place in Maine for quality time together, but this weekend I wanted to change things up a bit.  Plus, the weekend weather was unseasonably gorgeous (60’s during the day) so this gave me the perfect excuse to plan something extra fun.

Here are some favorite Newport highlights beginning with a stroll past historical sights on the way to the wharf for lunch.

Sunday morning walk.  Throughout my solo walk there were church bells ringing through the air…peaceful tunes filled the streets with songs of promise.

  1. Hi Becky! Great photos, I’ve never been to that part of the country before, so thanks for sharing! It looks like the weather was lovely! (it was really windy here, so I couldn’t get outside) I really like that patina door handle and the photo of the ocean through the swirly metal thing. I can’t wait to see what project your working on next ! See you Wednesday!

  4. Such beautiful pictures and the “lobstah” to die for! I grew up in Annapolis and all my sailing friends were always racing from Annapolis to Newport. I never got to go though. These photos are so pretty. We really need to plan a New England family vacation. I’d love to explore. Have a great week.

  6. Dear Becky,
Those pictures are so calm and happy! I have had minimal experience with New England and wish I could had more. My husband did a fellowship in Boston two years ago and we spent four months enjoying the areas around but I still do not feel I have enough. It is so different from the Midwest but all have their pleasures. Today our pleasure is snow 😉
