Double Coffee

Yesterday I celebrated my 43rd birthday.  And in traditional fashion I started off the day by indulging in a slice of rich and robust birthday cake…this year I chose to have tiramisu.

This simple cake made of only three main components (lady fingers soaked in espresso, topped with creamy goodness, dusted with cocoa) packs a punch! I love how you can taste each individual layer.

And I love how they taste together.  One perfect bite…

…with one perfect cup of coffee.

Doubling up on coffee felt oh-so-decadent.  And I didn’t even feel guilty afterward…that’s the beauty of birthdays.  And speaking of birthdays, I’m already thinking about what type of cake I should get for next year when I turn double 4’s.  There’s a good chance that I’ll probably get two cakes, and there will most definitely be coffee involved, possibly in two ways…we’ll see.

Here’s a look at a mini canvas that I created for a special friend when she turned 43.  She’ll be 44 next month so I better get going on making something fun for this year.  I love making birthday presents don’t you?

    You look ten years younger!
That is one of my favorites, too. I had it first as a young person (in my thirties) in San Francisco. I will never forget it!
I am going to keep that in mind for November 12!
I like to think of birthday months…keep the celebration going for special you!

  24. Happy Birthday!!!!! What a great way to celebrate. I first tasted Tiramisu 10 years ago in a hotel where were were being told that we will be losing our jobs. I don’t remember much about that day, other than the Tiramisu. I’ve been trying to find a good recipe–one with ‘real’ ingredients, not things like Vanilla Wafers etc.

    Enjoy being 43!

Here is to 43 being an amazing year for you 🙂 I turned 43 in May of this year.
From now I am taking your lead as to how you start your birthday day, although I might substitute hot chocolate for the coffee.
