Birdie and a Bit of Blue Inspired Giveaway

You know how three is my favorite number? This being the case I thought it would be fun to create three different pieces for this giveaway (1 winner for all 3 pieces.)

Here’s a look at the canvas (6″ x 6″) that I created…

…with a little birdie as the focal point…

…perched with a feather…

…within a cage of crystals.

For this particular piece, a single spot of blue felt like just the right amount of color.

Here’s another birdie inspired piece.  This mica charm hangs from antique brass chain links and leather.

When I think of birds, their lovely eggs usually come to mind.  So here’s an egg inspired necklace with a mixed chain of chunky, glassy beads along with blackened metal links.

To enter this giveaway simply leave a comment on this post (I’d love to hear what marvelous things in nature inspire you, or just say “hi”) by 5pm on Friday, September 2nd.  And I’ll be back here to post the winner the next morning.

Thanks for stopping by and for participating…have a happy, wonderful week!

  1. Hi Becky, happy weekend! Your nature inspired creations are beautiful…as always. I feel most inspired by nature when I see visions of wild flowers in the middle of a highway or an unexpected visit from a hummingbird or butterfly.

    xo,

    Abby

I’ve already received a lovely giveaway from you so please don’t enter my name….I’d love for others to have the chance.

  2. I always love to see what new things you have created! I’m always inspired by birds. But for some reason I am really drawn to the silhouettes of birds on power lines in the morning. Love the combination of the dark little birds against a blue sky that is slowly waking up.

  3. Hi Becky!

    What a charming giveaway!

Birds are a constant source of inspiration for me, as well as all the awesome seed pods, wood and textures found in nature. The ocean and shoreline also always inspire me. I am happiest surrounded by all of creation!

Thanks so much for hosting this lovely giveaway! Your art is inspiring!

  4. I would be hard pressed to choose one thing in nature that inspires me as I love all of nature…birds, flowers, fields of wildflowers, cloud formations, the sound of water lapping against the shore or falling from a waterfall, beautiful sunsets/sunrises …. etc. And I also adore these lovely creations you’ve made. The way you’ve incorporated the crystals unto the canvas as well as the little bead hanging off the feather is so artfully creative! Thanks for a chance to win these treasures!

  8. Your artwork is always incredibly beautiful and inspirational.
The pendant is breathtaking. I cannot believe you are allowing us this opportunity to win.
I am in the middle of a nature inspired piece of artwork, a theme which generally intimidates me.
Butterflies inspire me, their colours and their lightness of being, a stunning sunset, after a rainstorm and the droplets of rain on petals and leaves, a frosty day when ice crystals shimmer in the winter sunlight.

  11. Beautiful creations! I love the soft look of them, and oh, those sweet little birds!

Right now the gang of huge crows that gather under and in our tree and around our birdbath each day are inspiring me. Perhaps it’s the hope of cooler weather and thoughts of Halloween!

    August 26th, 2011

  12. Oh, oooooh, you know I love that birdies, don´t you? Because birds and their songs are really what inspires me most in nature …

  13. Becky your artwork is always so beautiful and inspiring!
Right now, I am dreaming of autumn and nature in places other than where I live. It’s been so hot here lately. I’m dreaming of being near the ocean, feeling a light misty rain on my face, and seeing the colors of fall that I don’t get to experience here in the desert southwest.
    Happy weekend to you!

  14. Hope Amen

    Hello Becky,
Your creations are so lovely; your talent amazes me! I have always loved being close to nature: taking hikes to streams and waterfalls, a walk along the shore. I guess anywhere near water. The sounds are soothing and the sights inspire me. Thank-you for the generous giveaway!

    August 26th, 2011

  15. HI, Becky, love the special bird items. I have become so fascinated with the little creatures that. I am now feeding them in the back and front yards. Love watching all the different birds fly in for a visit.

Love your work, too! Keep it up!

  16. Gorgeous Becky, I love all the special touches you added to your art~ For me it is the ocean, trees and flowers. I love all nature has to offer, but these three elements remind me of home. The veil of the trees canopying the endless blue sky, the ocean’s mood changing colors and bringing treasures into my life, the wharf roses and lupine that dotted my path to the bay.
All of these connect me to the pathway of my soul and my childhood memories~ xXx Be safe!

  18. Erin

These pieces are absolutely beautiful and create a sense of calm and peace.
We walk our dog each day in a wooded area close to our home. The ever changing scenery as the seasons unfold, the wildlife and the connection to another world are gifts that cannot be bought.. I have read that the first five minutes of being outside in nature raise your seratonin levels significantly. I believe this to be true – another reason to go for a walk.
Thank you for this generous opportunity.

  21. Thanks for sharing ladies…I love hearing about your joys of nature.

    August 27th, 2011

  22. It’s really hard to think of something in nature that doesn’t inspire me; when I think of the sea,I think of the sand, the driftwood, the spirals on the shells, seaweed, the ever-changing colours of the water, flecked with foam here and there – I would say that inspires me the most. But then I think of the forests and the pine cones and the berries and I am off again… and then there’s the mountains and the arctic…
Your give away is beautifully generous and the bird-theme is charming. I adore everything!

    August 27th, 2011

what inspires me now are horizons. enjoy your weekend.

  32. I fell in love with birds this year. It took me by surprise because I have a nature-deficit. Maybe it is because birds are symbolic of mediating between heaven and earth and that is a theme of the year.
I remember talking to a woman from the Block Nurse program this winter who pointed out my back window…cardinal on a snowy branch. My attention on the business at hand was gone and I was thrilled to watch this beautiful red creature against the white snow for the rest of the meeting.

I would love to win these, Becky. They are lovely,

I find so many things in nature inspiring – too many to list them all. Here are a few though, off the top of my head: the twisting branches of trees, leaves backlit by the sun, spider webs gleaming in the sun, birds, orphaned feathers along my walk path, and the ever-changing beauty of clouds in the sky…

    August 28th, 2011

    Hi Becky
Such a lovely post & your nature inspired artwork is amazing ♥
Thank you for your generous giveaway.
We recently spotted hummingbirds at our feeder and are absolutely awe struck by them 🙂 We are on “hummer watch” at the kitchen window ♥ Not sure if I will be lucky enough to get a picture (camera is on the table waiting) but either way, just having them in the garden is a gift in itself.
    Have a wonderful day!

Your work always seems magical to me. I feel like I am glimpsing thru a veil and the jewels sparkle thru the haze. This sounds weird, as I am not saying it well, but it is meant as a compliment.
I am always inspired by your lovely work.

Your work is so beautiful! Birds are such amazing creatures. I’ve also been enjoying the tree frogs. I love their sound at night and the fact that they hang around the back door and eat the bugs. Not a big fan of the bugs! Thanks for a great giveaway!

  45. What a beautiful piece! I would be honored to be the lucky winner of your gorgeous art. As far as what inspires me? There’s so much that inspires me, if only I had the time to act on that inspiration. Seems I find myself spending too much time on “have to’s” and not enough time on the “want to’s”. KWIM?! I’m keeping my fingers crossed . . . :o)

  51. Loved your beautiful creativity in these pieces, Becky! Many times words are where I find my inspiration. Those words create images in my mind. Then I work toward bringing that image to whatever my latest medium of choice happens to be. Must be the Irish influences in my DNA! lol

Wow, this would be like winning the lottery…what gorgeous pieces..and so different! You never cease to surprise me with your depth and breadth of talent. Inspiration is all around us…recently, the huge chestnuts started falling from the tree in my yard-I know this because one fell on my head-ouch! Examining the beautiful brown richness of the nut encased in a thorny muted green seed pod eased my pain..even though this event occurs annually, it is a harbinger of fall in New England, and I’m a child again, ready to jump into a pile of fragrant multicolored crispy leaves.

Becky, You do the loveliest little things! I find your work inspiring! I finally found a copy of the Summer issue of Somerset Life so that I could find out how you made those beautiful stuffed hearts out of dryer sheets, and the sweet little beach pouches. I do love to collect shells, beach stones, and sea glass when we vacation near the beach and those pouches would be the perfect place for them. Here in northern NH, our foliage will be turning warm colors very soon and apples, and pumpkins, and spices will inspire me then. But summer is not quite over, and my Morning Glories are inspiring me right now with their true blue blossoms. These birdie projects of yours are wonderful, and thank you for the opportunity to maybe win them!

  55. Ivy

    Hi Becky,
What a lovely giveaway. I would love to win!!!
In nature there is so much inspiration wherever I look. My favourites are the sun shining on the lake, and the water just glistining, I also love a full moon in the sky, the colours of a sunset, the blue of the sky and the different shades of green in the trees. I love to sit and listen to the birds chattering to each other and the windchimes playing music in the breeze. I too am a fan of the number 3!! It is my favourite number as well.

  66. Your creations are so beautiful Becky! You would love to sit on my front porch with a morning coffee… the birds we get at the feeder are so wonderful, and numerous. Cardinals, chickadees, various song birds, hummingbirds.. you can’t help but feel peaceful.
I have to say though, I often find myself moved by seeing a field of wheat. There are several wheat fields around my home, and I love how the breeze seems to bounce and play off the fields. It’s so soft and dreaming looking!

    September 2nd, 2011

  67. Shannon, I’ve never seen a wheat field, and would LOVE to some day. But for now, I’ll just use my imagination (thank you for the wonderful description.)
