Simple Starry Christmas Trees

Inside the current issue of Somerset Studio you’ll see two of my mini-Christmas tree projects in the “With One Stamp” department.  Both projects were created using the star tree stamp from Stampington’s Classic Christmas.

Here’s a look at one of them (4″ x 4″ canvas).

And here’s a side view…I like how the shimmery mica flakes catch the light.

This other mini-tree can be used as either an ornament or as a gift topper.

A dotting of sparkly rhinestones and a golden crown embellishment are easy and simple. The detailed instructions for creating both of these projects are included inside Somerset Studio.

This time of year I yearn for simplicity, even more than usual, to keep me calm and connected to what’s most meaningful during the holidays.  Do you share this preference for keeping things simple as well…if so, do you have any good tips?

  1. I agree, Becky! I like to keep it simple and easy and relaxed. These are sweet!

A person could do this with a blank tree and a star or snowflake stamp done randomly on the tree if they don’t have this one. Hmmm….I’m brainstorming. 😉

  4. The trees are lovely – I love the idea of it’s shape being composed of little stars!
I too find simplicity to be the key. When this busy time of year rolls around I try to keep images of the past in my head, a time when people had less and had to make the everyday things special.
A simple ribbon here and there can add so much while focusing on one detail allows the viewer to really take it in. I ask myself, “What do I want to notice about this” and then I zero in on that. I think of it almost as a process of distillation – sounds weird, but when I take something down to it’s simple essence, it clears away a lot of clutter in my mind!

  7. These are so beautiful! I love the crown as the base, just stunning! So evokes the season’s meaning! The mica picks up the light and reflects the message of the season~ Keep it bright and your calm reminds me to keep it light(lighten my list).
I’m going to try to adjust my to do list, pick the things that speak to me the most. I’m crocheting and making a few gifts, but for those I truly know appreciate my efforts~

Last year, I took on too many things. I posted on my blog every day, but Christmas. I found it stressful and it seem to drain me. It was a challenge I agreed to do. It did allow me to invest in my view of 2011 and that was helpful. I think making a list of all you want to do, give and donate. Then pairing it down to what means most. No one can do it all and we need to remember the true meaning and magic of the season~

    * I’m working on pairing my list with my families favorite things…yes, they might get brown packages tied up with string ;D

  11. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous trees!!! Love it!
I love Christmas – New Year time, it’s my favorite time of the year! And I love everything to be colorful, glittered and shiny! That may be a bit “old time” style, but what can I say, I like it! 🙂

    So pretty!
It is snowing outside (very lightly, and melting before it hits the ground , but it is always so exciting) listening to Christmas carols on the radio. Couldn’t agree more about simplicity.

Hi Becky, keeping things simple around the holidays is very hard to do. The excitement and the ideas just seem to build up. There are the warm wishing holiday cards and gifts you want to make for your friends and families ….and all the yummy recipes you would like to bake. (Sigh) If you have children, you start to think about all the cool projects to do with them too!! Wheee!! 🙂 By then, hopefully, you will be having fun keeping yourself busy instead of pulling out your hair trying to finish up in time. So, maybe we should think ahead of time and work on some things before the holidays arrive? (That is a little difficult for a procrastinator like me. Heheh, that is a long story.) Anyway, keeping it simple is a very good idea and something I should practice when I would like to make a gift.

I really like your Simple Starry Christmas Trees. They are “simply” beautiful! 🙂 Hope you will have a wonderful weekend. Stay warm!

  22. Becky I simple adore the use of the crown on your second project… wonderful, wonderful creations.

Without looking at the calendar, I can already tell that the holidays are upon as I am starting to feel the anxiety of not acheiving all that I want to. It’s terrible, and I really need to take a step back and allow myself to just let go and enjoy the season. I believe more and more that keeping things simple reaps the most rewards.
