Spring Articles

Spring is definitely in the air over in my neck of the woods.  All around, the landscape is greening, blooming and growing.  I love all of this wonderful April energy!  And there’s more of this happy, Spring feeling inside the new issue of Somerset Life.

Inside this issue you’ll see an article of mine about making mini booklet necklaces using recycled dryer sheets, fabric scraps and such.

Inside this same issue you’ll see another project of mine (“Teeny, Tiny Boxes”).

Here are some close-ups of the altered matchboxes with some surprises tucked inside.

The how-to instructions are included in both articles.  However, if you have any specific questions, just let me know (simply leave your questions in the comments section and I’ll be happy to post the answer(s) on a daily basis).

Happy Spring and happy creating!

  5. Hi Becky
I have my subscription issue and what I do, on initially receiving it I have a look at each page to see what beautiful articles are in store for me and then I set it aside to savour at a later date when I absorb each word and study the stunning photographs.
Your pieces are so precious with their sweet little details of nature and nurture.

  25. I did a search for your name after seeing your boxes on Stampington site’s preview of the issue. I adore your matchoxes. Are the birds diecuts? Would you mind revealing which die you used if they were. I love bird projects.

    best wishes

  26. Hi Billie…so nice to see you here. And thank you so much for the kind message. Also, to answer your question, the bird images that you see on the matchboxes are my own (I used watercolor paint to create the images as well as a pencil to add details). And then I made photocopies (used a color copy machine at Staples) of the birds and transferred them onto canvas fabric with gel medium.

  27. Hi Becky

Thanks so much for replying to this, not sure I could draw birds that well yet, think I’ll start with my slice die cutting machine and work up from there.

Your birds are beautiful, I love their shapes and poses, so original.

Will be coming back regularly now I’ve found your blog, have added it to my art blogs listing on my blog so I can find it again.

Congrats on being featured in the magazine and on Stampington’s site, isn’t the internet great for bringing artists together.

    Best wishes

    Billie
