I created this collage (3″ x 3″) awhile ago, and I’ve been keeping it on my studio desk so that I could look at it from time to time. Seeing it reminds me to appreciate those I trust…including myself. So much begins with trusting yourself.
The heart shape is cut from a piece of parchment paper, which I layered on top of a portion of a postcard (from Ruth, who’s like a mother to me). I like how the semi-transparent quality of the parchment paper allows you to still see the blue ink handwriting underneath.
For some sparkle I added a couple of beads and a tiny golden heart (attached to the end of an antique key).
And I placed “trust” on the center of the key to be the focal point.
Trust unlocks the heart and allows the love to flow.

This is a thought provoking, stunning piece. Makes me wonder where the key has been and who used it in the past. But I agree, you definitely have to trust yourself first.
