Pointy Stars and Another Tree

In the current issue of Somerset Studio you’ll see two seasonal looking star projects of mine in the “With One Stamp” department (the instructions are included).

One in red.

And one in black.

And this pointy tree on a 3″ x 3″ canvas isn’t in the magazine, but I felt like it belonged here in this post since the tree shape is like the single point of a star.  To make it more tree-like, I applied a light wash of green watercolor paint onto a text printed page.

The soft bed of snow was made from a piece of torn paper towel.

The number “2” has been on my mind a lot lately…

…and bright, shiny stars have been too…how about you?

Let your inner light shine…let it light up the world.

  3. Becky what did you use for the background of your tree canvas? It has me intrigued! I just love your use of paper towel too.

  4. Shannon, to answer your question…I used a piece of rustic looking fabric to cover the canvas (background for the tree). And I think it’s woven cotton (thickly and tightly woven pattern). I like that it has a burlap feel, but a bit more sturdy and not so see through. And thank you very much (to all three ladies) for the artwork compliments…so glad to hear you like it!

  5. I like these, for my tree this year I used the burlap for ground covering under the tree! I think it looks very good. Now I need to make some of your stars! Di

  7. It really does have a burlap feel, but not quite as rough.. it works so well with the other elements!

  8. How clever to turn the star into a tree. Isn’t that the wonder of stamping, the possibilities that are within each stamp.
The rough texture of the burlap set against sparkle is always so appealing.

More lovely ideas to mull over, Becky! Thank you so much for your kindness in sharing ideas with us. I look forward to your emails always with great anticipation. I do love the tree, I often do things with book pages which have been painted over, people seem to really enjoy it. Keep on doing great things!
