This past week a light went out when beautiful Maya Angelou passed away. Her time here on earth was well spent. She has inspired many…with her words, with her voice and with her actions. Everything about her spoke of love.
Maya Angelou had many sayings that radiated with her amazing spirit. Below are two of my favorites, beginning with one on humility and kindness.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
This next one is something that I also believe in, which she says so simply and beautifully.
“I would like to be known as an intelligent woman,
a courageous woman, a loving woman,
a woman who teaches by being.”
Maya Angelou lived well and she indeed, has taught us well. As in her last name, Angelou was an angel, one who spread messages of joy, love, freedom and hope…consistently and with deep determination. Although she is no longer here, her ideals remain. A light this bright will always live on…in memory and in our hearts. May this loving inspiration be everlasting.

Oh, Becky, I too am mourning our loss of beautiful Maya. Many times I’ve listened to her reading from her poems while in the car…..and I, too, have some favorite quotes. One of which is “If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” She lives on in my heart, she gave us much, and keeps on giving!
