Just in case you didn’t receive this newsletter (available through email/free to subscribe,) I thought you might like to know that within this Post Script, you can download a free copy of my article, “Open to Imagination.” This article was previously published in the November/December 2010 issue of Somerset Studio, and provides the specific how-to details to create the following artwork.
These door and window images that you see above were created from photos that I took while in Europe with my family. And below are some images that I took during our recent Spring break in DC. I’m not sure how I’ll use these images yet, and I’m also not in a hurry – right now I’m just having fun imagining all the possibilities…gotta leave the door open for inspiration to flow through right? And it’s good to remember not to rush the process either. How about you, what have you been dreaming up lately?

I always love your creations and these are no different. Its important to stop now and then, to breathe, to rest and let imagination in for awhile and then let creativity bloom.
Right now I am dreaming of a holiday that my husband & I will take in a few weeks time to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary.

I love your windows and doors. I stopped at the red door and was reminded of my little South Dakota Episcopal Church and a decision that was made to paint all the doors red, signifying “the blood of Christ.” I never really liked that symbol growing up but it has helped me identify many an Episcopal Church and feel a sense of kinship (though I am no longer a member). I think you said that your pictures were from Europe so it could be Anglican, the Episcopal equivalent, or it could be something totally different. Love the pictures. I have always been fold of windows and doors!

ahhhh, this is one of my favorite things to gaze at……doors and windows! when i lived in belgium, i loved to drive through the neighborhoods and just gawk at the fabulous doors! and these images used in your artwork are the perfect combination!!

Congratulations on your article. I love your doors art. As chance would have it I have been collection photos and such of doors as they really intrigue me. Where are they leading…what is beyond them…

Becky, I just love doors!! When I was in Europe many years ago I took a lot of pictures of doors and even have a calendar of just doors from where I was. What a great way to use the images. Thanks, I am sure I have that issue, but nice to have it on my desktop now. Now, where did I put those pictures??? I like the analogy of open doors to possibilities. Perhaps that is a place to start. Dreaming of lazy summer days with a good book.
