Well, it’s that time of year again when needle felting feels so right…so cozy. I recently made little wool birdies like these…
…and I turned them into these…
This one looks right at home perched in a wire tree…
…with a single bluish dangle on a single, bright blue spool.
This one also sits in a twisted tree.
But this one decided to sit directly on a spool…I guess he’s not as adventurous.
These spools are all still waiting for a birdie…this is a good thing since I’ve only just begun. I’ll probably end up making at least a dozen or more (knowing myself, probably a lot more) birdies before I’m ready to move on to making something else. Making things feels good…moving on feels good too. Thank goodness for the changing of seasons!
Speaking of seasons changing, for these next few months due to the lack of natural light (bye-bye longer, brighter days) my photos probably won’t be as clear or vibrant. I hope you won’t mind this temporary change very much.

your little birdies sitting on a wire couldn’t get any sweeter if they tried! and using the spools for a base, well, that’s just plain brilliant (just like all your other ideas!!!). xoxox

These are perfect! What a creative way to use the spools. I think your photos are wonderful, I can ‘feel’ the softness of the birds. 🙂

Ever so Tweet these little birdies are. I agree the “warmth” of this craft is just right for this cooler Fall weather. I see you making flocks of little adorable wool felted birds. Blissful birding…

Absolutely adorable! I love all three of them, and the tree looks so beautiful as a contrast to a soft birdie. Wonderful work! 🙂

Such lovely comments, thank you. Receiving this good energy makes me want to put some out there also. Please check back in the next week or so – I’ll be offering a giveaway which will include a similar bird-on-tree creation along with a couple of other handmade cozy wool items.

Becky, I went back to have another peek at your neighborhood photos, and it occurred to me how often it is that on walks like this, we get ideas for projects. The way a leaf lies on a path, the juxtaposition of twigs and leaves, a bird against a cloudy sky….isn’t Nature wonderful? Jani Howe
October 24th, 2011
Yes, Jani…how true! Nature is ever inspiring – it has the power to move us…in all the right directions. It’s wonderful that so many of us feel the same way.

Oh yes, Becky! Making things feels good! I already feel better today that I made something!
Your birdies are delightful!
