With Summer coming to a close, this is the perfect time for me to share a beach finds project with you. If you’re like me, you have a collection of carefully selected beach beauties on hand. Here’s a look at what you can create with them.
Here’s a close look at one that’s focused around a heart.
And this one has a heart in it also.
This next one looks like a heart to me too. Although it’s missing part of the top curve, my eye and mind sees it as complete.
Very often I like to include details that look like visual hugs…I think this adds a cozy feel. Below are some examples of what I mean.
Wire wrapped rock.
Circle around a shell.
Wire wrapped around “cherish” stick and string wrapped around a reed with a feather sticking out.
And here’s a closer look at my favorite example of a visual hug (sunshine yellow thread wrapped around a feather seen on the right hand side of the canvas), which I did while thinking of my Bill and Brook.
I feel grateful that no matter where I am or what season it happens to be, I’m always surrounded by sunshine, as long as I’m around (or even when I’m just thinking of) my Bill and Brook. They are my light, my joy…my sunshine. As we move into the direction of shorter days, may the brilliant, beautiful light of your loved ones fill you with peace and joy as well.

perfect beach pieces. love your take on hugs. finding pieces that look like hearts has been a fun thing to do with little ones around our house. my nephews found lovely pieces to give their mom for Christmas (they were made into wire wrapped necklaces for her). I like the idea of putting rocks into your art, along with everything else you’ve done. thanks so much for giving this glimpse of beauty. enjoy your day.

Congratulations dear on Somerset Studio publication. Your art always brings peace and joy to my soul. Yellow for Sunshine and how important that is as our days get shorter in daylight. I thrive on sunshine and the energy it gives me. I have no beach trinkets as there are no beaches close by. However I can thoroughly enjoy your beautiful canvases that honor little bits and pieces of the blissful beaches you visit. Creative Bliss…

I do have one question. How did you adhere the rocks to the corrugated paper?

So lovely to know that you ladies like the artwork, thank you. And Lynn, to answer your question, I used regular craft glue (Aleene’s) to adhere the rocks to the paper/canvas. If you like, for more strength you can try using regular gel medium (Golden), but I think the craft glue should be sufficient. Happy Creating!

I am so uplifted by these pieces of your work! They are elegant in their simplicity. I have been collecting hear -shaped rocks, concrete, terra cotta, pebbles for several years.
