Over the weekend Bill baked a batter of chocolatety goodness. He’s a much better baker than I am…precisely measuring ingredients isn’t my thing. And BTW, look at Mac…he’s always at the ready to lick up any crumbs.
Looking at Bill’s bundt-shaped cake made me think of my batting cupcake.
Sewing makes me happy and is definitely more my thing, and I love having the freedom to just wing it.
And speaking of wings, here’s a fluffy one. Birds and batting go together like chocolate and cake.
One of the best things about sewing is that it doesn’t require a lot of fancy ingredients. With some batting, cotton fabric, buttons and some other scraps, that’s basically all you need to create all kinds of this n’ that. Simple and easy…I’m majorly-focused on this mindset right now. How about you, what Spring things are on your mind?

In my part of the world we are praying for Winter. We have had one very long hot summer so what we really crave right now is cooler weather and rain.
There is nothing so sweet as a little time to sew.

And I like the sewn ingredients as they last sew much longer than any food ingredients. Hubby made a delicious looking cake for certain. Your cupcake and black bird are adorable. What a great complimentary couple you are in the creative arena. Happy week ahead…

Yum, I just made brownies from scratch yesterday. Truth be told, I think my hubby is a better cook than me too. I’d rather play with paint. Love your little cupcake and especially love the birdie!

Dear Becky,
We are both lucky to have husbands who bake! Not my thing either. I don’t do “precise” well. I love that little bundt of a pincushion. At first glance, I thought that your husband had decorated the cake with pearl top pins! And the bird practically brings me to tears with his little feather of a wing with little pink stitches…sigh!

Oh my does that cake look good! Zoey and Shelby are always right at my feet in the kitchen. I’ve tripped more than once. I’m waking to birds singing every morning these days. For the first time, they have been featured in some of my creations. I’m enjoying them. I photographed some flowers and lily pads today too. I heard an orchestra of frogs early this evening and walked down to the pond to snap a few pics. I do fear here in FL we may have skipped spring and gone straight to summer!

oh so special. lucky girl. he cooks, you create, how perfect. i love to bake, and to make. sewing is one thing that makes me happy too. need to make some quilts for a friends daughters. put it on the list.

I love the cake photo with Mac. My hound strategically knows where to be, it is funny! Bill did good; it looks yummy~
I love little cupcakes; this one would be a perfect treat. A lovely little gift to tuck in, for someone’s special day! The bird is so reflective of now; I so love hearing the birds chip and sing during my morning walks. Really comforting is all of these and that equals happy!

Love your projects–would you tell us what you use to glue the batting into the tins?

Kybarb, I used Aleene’s Tacky craft glue to adhere the batting into the tins. This is done after I’ve made a batting (pillow style) that is slightly larger than the tin opening, and then tuck the batting pillow edges into the tin, creating a cupcake shape. Also, before adhering the batting pillow into the tin, sew a button to the center (pulling the thread tight to create a tufted-look.)

Becky, first of all, enjoy your vacation!
And you’re so right about sewing not needing lots of ingredients! I remember when I was first married, just a few skeins of embroidery floss and some muslin could make me happy for hours and hours at very little expense on our tight budget!
Your little muffin top pincushions are sweet. As soon as my thumb heals, I have a teacup that’s going to be turned into one.
