Two Books Giveaway

My lovely friend Melody recently published a wonderfully creative book, An Altered Existence.  This book consists of 14 portrait photographs from long ago, and each portrait inspired Melody to write fictitious stories about life, love, birth, death, salvation, self-acceptance, and taking chances.  These stories have both a timeless and a modern feel, and I could relate to much of it…I have a feeling you might also.

Melody has very generously offered a copy of her book as a giveaway, which you can enter a chance to win here at my blog by leaving a comment to this post (I’d love to hear about your favorite Spring time memories or simply say hi).

In addition to the book (shown above), I’m including a mini-book necklace that I recently made as part of the giveaway.

Years ago I created this mini “dream” book necklace…

…with tea-dyed recycled dryer sheets for the pages and a hand sewn binding.

I was recently inspired to make some more and created the 2 necklaces below.  For the giveaway you have a choice of which mini-book you’d like to have, either the plain cover…

…or the “love” cover.

Both book charms have pages made of recycled dryer sheets as well as some sparkly bead accents.

And there are also some hand stitched details on the opposite side along with rustic looking hardware.

To recap, this giveaway will consist of 2 items (Melody’s wonderful book and one of my book charm necklaces).  One winner will receive both items.  To enter, please leave a comment to this post by next Friday evening (April 12th) and I’ll include your name in the hat.  Then I’ll be back the next day to announce the random winner.

Thanks for stopping by, and wishing you all a bright and beautiful week ahead.

  2. I love Spring…two of my children were born in the Spring. I think it’s the perfect time (weatherwise) to have a newborn babe around. I remember sitting with my tiny son in a garden filled with Forsythia…what a sweet memory you provoked!
It’s such a sweet giveaway too!
I really love your tiny little books….if I won I think I’d pick the plain one.

Please put my name in the hat for the books. I never throw away any little scrap of stuff except for dryer sheets. I never save those until now. And I have lots of leather (think old purses from the thrift store) that I can use. I see a project coming up in my future. Spring has sprung.

You know I am all about tiny things. Spring to me is a fresh chance — throw open the windows, let the fresh air in, clean the closets, clean the drawers ….. just a fresh new chance! xoxo Thanks for the chance Becky — have a blessed week as well.

Happy Becky! We’re welcoming new bunnies that wander into our yard. A sure sign of Spring. Insert a big smiley face here……The windows are open, kids outside playing, lots of laughter (and arguing), lunch under the trees, treehouses being built! Think I’ll settle into a chair and work on a craft.

    April 6th, 2013

  15. Sounds fantastic Mindy! We still have the heat on in my parts…and hearing about your open windows makes me feel excited that soon we’ll be feeling the warmth also. The anticipation is definitely rising, and I can’t wait to break out my new sandals!

Here in the desert, we’ve been having Spring for a while now! Today is in the mid-80’s!
Ah, my favorite Spring memories…..in school days, a group of friends and I would get together on Sunday afternoons (especially Easter Sunday!), go over to the grounds of an estate nearby which had a brook running through it, over rocks, even with a bridge! We’d take photos of us on the bridge, and dabble our feet in the freezing water. It was an idyllic place, and has given me many soft, gentle Spring memories, days spent with dear friends.

Lovely! And spring is wonderful, too. Although this year it’s been a long time coming — stood outside a supermarket yesterday to collect funds and invite people to join in our Relay for Life event in May and it was freezing! — hope it’s warm by May. Would love to win the items — I’d enjoy for a while and then (perhaps) put them up for auction at Relay — to keep the good going. ——-donna

  24. Thank you for doing this wonderful give-away. My favorite memory of each Spring is the first time I smell fresh cut grass! Yesterday I was driving and I saw two men mowing a lawn so I turned my car vent and fan on to make sure I could catch a whiff as I went by. It was delightful!!!

Your little books are wonderful – inspired me to make one to put a colorful blob of paint on each page and use for a car key chain. Colors because they make me happy and to remind me of a promise made long ago with a rainbow. Thanks so much for your inspiration!

  26. Your necklace is fabulous – as always – and the book seems very interesting. I will need to check it out even if I don’t win! Thanks for the opportunity! Happy Spring…. Dawn

Hi Becky, I have wonderful spring time memories of swinging on my porch as a young child, smelling the honeysuckle and enjoying a wonderful thunderstorm. Have a wonderful week!

I love the idea of making stories to match photos, or even to match what is seen in the world. We often make up stories about people we see doing things that attract our attention. Sometimes it can be a great distraction for the children when they are bored, and lots of fun to see what they come up with.
Miniatures are nice to have. They take up little space, but have big stories behind them. Do I need to say: It would be wonderful to win both?

In the Rocky Mountain states, spring is always late in coming and so very welcome when it does arrive. A new child was born into our eclectic family in late March, conjuring up wonderful memories. I wonder if his face will be featured in a book about the past…in 2113? Christy
